The causes and consequences of parental care in fish
PI and Institution:
Catherine Sheard, University of Aberdeen
PhD aim:
Investigate the causes and consequences of key transitions and drivers in different parental care strategies in fish.
PhD objectives:
- What are the key transitions in parental care strategies?
- What drives these transitions?
- Do any lineages show specific trends?
- Fish Fanning: Investigate whether aerating eggs using pectoral fins is driving, or is driven by, morphological evolution.
- Egg Colours: Investigate the transitions between different egg colours and the possible causes of these transitions.
