An Introduction to Open Source GIS (QGIS)

We are pleased to be able to offer a one-day FREE training course.

This course will introduce you to the use of Geographical Information Systems, specifically the Open Source QGIS program. Following an initial overview of some of the key concepts and ideas, the focus will be on hands-on practical use of GIS for common mapping and analysis tasks. The course will cover sourcing, import and display of different data sources along with a selection of the major analysis procedures and effective mapping techniques.

Prof Rob Briers will lead the course. Prof Briers is a spatial ecologist whose research focuses on how and why biodiversity and environments vary across space, from local to global scales, working mainly in aquatic ecosystems.
