How to improve inclusion in academia with Dr Claire Malone

This free webinar was arranged by the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Working Group, as part of the Graduate School Student Committee, and will be led by Dr Claire Malone, a disabled physicist.

Dr Malone is going to give an online talk to the Graduate School community focusing on the environment for underrepresented groups in STEM, in particular the disabled and LGBTQ+ communities, drawing from personal experience in academia. Dr Malone shall discuss the types of barriers that disabled people can face in accessing academia such as physical, technological and academic/social isolation, and will then examine what institutions can do to break down these barriers with a person-centred approach and the creation of support networks.

All from the community are welcomed and encouraged to attend; PIs, supervisors, and PGRs.
