Autumn Writing Retreat

Please join us for a much-requested in-person Writing Retreat!

The Old Brewery has plenty of meeting rooms and a garden to take breaks in. Between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm on the Tuesday and Wednesday I will join you and use the Pomodoro timer (25 min work, 5 min break, after 2 hours take a 30 min break), but you don’t have to stick to this. You will be free to write whenever you work best, but please keep in mind that we do expect you to come prepared to write for the majority of the stay.

Accommodation for three nights (check in at 4 pm, check out by 11 am) including catering will come to approx. £300 pp, and costs will be covered from your TSG. You can also claim travel costs from your TSG. There are different levels of catering available at different price points, including a kitchen for self-catering, and optional shared rooms, please specify your preferences in the sign up form.

Feedback from the Spring Writing Retreat in Aviemore was excellent (4.8/5), and participants found it useful, encouraging, and productive! One participant said that it was “good to have the time where I was away from my usual space, where I could focus on one thing”. You could work on your thesis, literature review, a journal paper, conference abstract or presentation, or the PG Cert, but it isn’t limited to these and you can bring along any task(s) that you would like to work on.

This is not replacing the Spring Writing Retreat, which will be held after the Annual Student Retreat in March as usual.
