DESCRIPTION:This session offers participants in the first year of their studies a chance to develop the skills required to manage this phase of their doctorate and to action plan accordingly. \n\n\n\nThe learning outcomes of the course are to enable researchers to: \n\nacknowledge the progress they have made to date and recognise the skills they have developed;\nidentify people who can contribute to the success of their doctorate;\ndevelop techniques to effectively communicate with their supervisor and develop this relationship now and in the future;\nexplore the importance of communicating their research and its impact;\npractice communication techniques to a range of audiences; and\ndevelop their individual plan for the coming year and recognise that there are things they need to and can do now in order to secure the job they want.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPGRs in their first year will receive a calendar invite with a joining link.

DESCRIPTION:This course offers participants in the second year of their studies to maintain the momentum of their doctorate as they enter and during their second year\, and to refocus on the wider process of successfully completing their doctorate on time.  \n  \n\nThe learning outcomes of the session are to enable participants to: \n\nclarify where they are within the doctoral process\, the progress they have made so far and how this relates to the overall project;\nidentify some critical success factors for the second year of a PhD;\nexplore what their thesis will look like (structure)\, including consideration of the assessment criteria;\nlook at tools and techniques to strategically manage the rest of their PhD; and\ndevelop their individual plan for the coming year\, together with specific support needs and resources available.\n\n  \n\n\nPGRs in their second year will have received a calendar invite with a joining link.
